After 16 years of service at the United Nations Federal Credit Union, Steve Ryerson founded SJR IV Advisors to fulfill his vision and passion to help financial service companies grow revenue and profits by helping them deliver value driven financial products and services to the clients and members they serve. Steve founded SJR IV Advisors fueled by his passion to help financial service organizations grow their revenue and profits by delivering creative and value driven advice, products and services. His commitment is to help these organizations become more relevant to those they serve by building relationships with both existing and transactional clients. Steve’s advisory services have application to a broad range of organizations such as Financial Institutions, Insurance/Investment Companies, Insurance Brokers, RIA’s and FinTech companies.

Steve is a Financial Services executive with proven leadership and entrepreneurial experience. He has almost 40 years’ experience as a C-Suite leader with very significant responsibilities and oversight for P & L’s, revenue generation, product creation, market share and acquisitions.

Most recently, Steve served for almost 16 years in the not for profit sector at the United Nations Federal Credit Union (UNFCU), as President & CEO, UNFCU Financial Services (Insurance Agency) and UNFCU Advisors (SEC registered Investment Advisory Firm), and as UNFCU’s Chief Business Development Officer. Steve grew UNFCU’s non-banking financial services platform to serve United Nations staff and their families around the globe-providing assistance to a significant number of people who were often stationed in dangerous areas of the world and were lacking access to very important financial solutions. During Steve’s tenure at UNFCU he:

  • Built a global insurance and investment services business that supported United Nations, World Bank, IMF and related agencies and their employees in over 150+ countries;
  • Identified and negotiated agreements with global partnerships to provide members with an enhanced product menu and service delivery model;
  • Successfully acquired an insurance agency to provide more resources for members;
  • Worked with partners to create product solutions unique to their needs;
  • Successfully acquired an insurance agency to provide more resources for members;
  • Created significant new streams of recurring revenue;
  • Was instrumental in executing UNFCU’s expansion into the DC, MD and VA markets;
  • Advocated creating alternate paths of membership to strengthen the credit union’s balance sheet;
  • Lead alternative path business development efforts and identified opportunities for Field of Member expansion;
  • Played key role in creating a member business lending loan participation program;
  • Identified numerous opportunities for potential business line creation, expansion and equity investments.

Steve has served as a Board Director for New Ground Inc., a NY based, not for profit focused on breaking the cycle of homelessness. He was Board Chair for 6 years and currently he is an Advisory Board Member.

Steve graduated with a Cum Laude BS degree from St.John’s University in 1979.

Steve resides in Rockville Centre NY with his wife of 40 years. He spends his spare time with his grandchildren, at the beach, watching sports and reading.

Mr. Levine is the recipient of awards from several prestigious national organizations, including Entrepreneur of the Year Award from Ernst & Young and Inc. Magazine. The National Association of Corporate Directors recognized him as part of The Directorship 100 in both 2011 and 2012 and appointed him to serve on their 17-member Nominating/Governance Advisory Council. He presently serves on the Nominating & Governance Committee, Audit Committee, Broadridge Financial Solutions. He previously served as Lead Director, Gentiva Health Services, Lead Director, D’Addario & Company, Inc., Vice Chairman Northwell Health and director, member of Audit Committee, European American Bank.
